High Availability ISP Services (3G or otherwise)
As more business critical applications are shifted to IP networks, network downtime due to a failed primary Internet connection is not just frustrating, but also very costly as these links are now mission critical. In Canada, the average uptime of an ADSL circuit is approximately 99.7%, which means roughly 20 hours of downtime can be expected each month. For a higher level of service, a high availability network design is the only cost effective answer.
Colony’s high availability solution provides Active/Passive failover to another high speed circuit (another ADSL or cable Internet connection, for example), or even a 3G/4G network (HSPA+) link.
Colony’s high availability solution offers the following features:
- Active Passive ISP Failover – Service utilizes redundant path Internet providers such as those where Shaw cable and 3G/4G wireless service can be used.
- Specific Application persistence, in the event of primary failure
- Redundant Firewall Deployment – mitigating the design pitfalls of a single point of failure (SPOF) multiple components such layer 2 switching design like spanning tree
- Low and high performance varieties, including a no packet loss fail over and fail back
- Automated VPN tunnel teardown and re-creation
Our wireless failover solution also allows us to deploy our gateways at the edge within less than 48 hour time periods most places in Canada. Once the primary connection has been provisioned, our 3G modems can be shipped back to us if failover is not required for those sites.
3G services can be bundled directly from Colony, leveraging our arrangements with carriers to offer cost effective 3G failover solutions.
